Business rent help
Livermore city officials are accepting joint applications from eligible commercial landlords and their small business tenants or lessees as part of the city s Commercial Rent Abatement Matching Grant Program.
Open to businesses with gross receipts of no more than $10 million that have experienced financial loss due to the pandemic, the program provides up to $7,500 in matching funds when a commercial landlord has or will permanently waive unpaid rent during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
We are grateful beyond words to report that readers stepped up to the challenge and raised $88,215.84 for the 2020-21 Holiday Fund campaign surpassing last year s total by more than $12,000.

Approximately 10 miles of local flood control channels were used for shelter by unhoused individuals last year, according to an annual summary report on homeless encampment activity from the Zone 7 Water Agency.
In 2020, encampments were found in nearly a third of the agency s 37-mile flood channels, and 11 cleanup events were conducted at four primary sites. All of the cleanups were held in Livermore, except for one each in Pleasanton and Dublin.
General Manager Valerie Pryor told the Weekly, A couple of these were citizen complaints but most of them were known encampment sites that Zone 7 and city staff had been coordinating with for a couple of months.
