Declan Hanrahan has been re-elected as vice-chairman of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) National Livestock Committee, the organisation has confirmed.
In an announcement this afternoon (Friday, April 16), the association revealed the results of two elections.
Hanrahan was elected vice-chairman last August after the then vice-chair, Brendan Golden, became the chairperson replacing Angus Woods at the time, and was up for re-election. He is a beef and suckler farmer from Co Laois.
The counting of postal ballots took place in the Irish Farm Centre today.
The other election saw Stephen Arthur elected chairman of the IFA National Dairy Committee.

Francie Gorman from Ballinakill has been elected as the IFA South Leinster Regional Chairman.
IFA National Returning Officer Martin Stapleton announced the result at the count held in the Irish Farm Centre on Friday afternoon in line with public health guidelines.
Francie received 1,390 votes, to James Kehoe from Wexford with 867 votes.
Martin Stapleton said the turnout of 87% among delegates to the eight county executives in the South Leinster region was a decisive mandate.
“This was the largest election so far this year that we have done by postal ballot. Despite the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, our National Council decided to press ahead with elections as they were due. The postal system has worked very well across our county executive structure. It shows the flexibility of the Association in responding to very changed circumstances,” he said.
