Hope Netflix interest will blossom

The production crew of Netflix’s The Royal Treatmentspent three days filming in Oamaru last week. The 135-strong crew and large cast of mainly New Zealand-based actors and extras took over Harbour St and Tyne St from Friday to Monday, filming scenes for the movie. The film’s lead actors, Laura Marano ( The Perfect Date, Austin & Ally, Saving Zoe) and Mena Massoud Aladdin, Hulu’s Reprisal), were also spotted out and about in Oamaru over the weekend. Netlfix publicist Sabryna Phillips said The Royal Treatment, directed by Rick Jacobson and written by Holly Heist, told the story of Prince Thomas (Massoud), who is set to marry a royal out of duty, when he meets Isabella (Marano), who is doing his hair for the wedding. As the story unfolds, they learn that taking control of their own destiny requires following their hearts, and the two fall in love.

Home is where the harp is for mirror-image twins

YOU could be forgiven for thinking you are witnessing an optical illusion with these pictures of twins Rosemary Munro and Margaret Scruby. And although they’re identical, the 62-year-old harp-playing sisters are mirror-image twins, meaning they have many opposite traits. Mrs Munro, from Appleton, is left-handed whereas Mrs Scruby, from Botley, is right-handed. Each has one lazy eye, but opposite to each other and they both suffer from arthritis but in an opposite foot. As mirror image twins they are termed monozygotic twins – created when one fertilised egg splits at least a week after conception leaving the babies to develop some reverse asymetric features.

Penarth widow overwhelmed by response to husband s death

THE WIDOW of a popular Penarth community man has thanked his friends who lined the streets in a collective tribute to him last week. Stuart Munro died aged 60 on January 13 following a short battle with bowel cancer, and his wife Gill Munro said she has been overwhelmed with the community response to his passing. Mr Munro, an extremely popular businessman and rugby fanatic who had lived in Penarth since moving from Scotland as a child, became unwell in February last year – and waited for months before he finally received a diagnosis of bowel cancer in June. As well as his wife, Mr Munro leaves behind daughters Ellie and Olivia, step-daughters Rachel and Jessica, grandchildren Ella and Harry, and a lot of friends across the town’s rugby community and beyond.
