A SWINDON driver caught going almost double the speed limit on Great Western Way has been banned from the roads for three years and fined. Shortly before 11pm on October 25 last year, police spotted a BMW 118 racing down the 30mph section of road towards the Bruce Street Bridges roundabout at 59mph. Officers stopped the car on North Star Avenue and arrested 31-year-old Lee Black of Cagney Drive in Abbey Meads before taking him to Gablecross Police Station while the car was seized. At the station, Black failed to complete the breathalyser procedure by providing insufficient samples. He pleaded guilty to exceeding a 30mph speed limit and failing to provide a specimen for analysis at Swindon Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
