John White, who runs Overton Farm in Overton Hackpen south of Wroughton, wants to diversify his business. But in his application to Swindon Borough Council planners says the buildings on the farm itself are not suitable for conversion. Instead, he wants to build two treehouses on a 1.6-metre-high platform in a belt of trees, mainly ash and oak up to 12m high with apple, cherry, hawthorn and lime trees mixed in. Mr White says the cabins will barely be visible from the road or public spaces. The semi-detached cabins will have a kitchen and living space, one bedroom and a large balcony.
