NEW YORK (WCBS 880) A New York City Department of Correction officer has been arrested in connection with a Chinatown brawl in which a 20-year-old man was stabbed, the NYPD said.
Jimmy Wu, 28, was arrested and charged with assault, attempted gang assault, attempted assault and menacing Thursday morning, police said Friday.
Wu, who was assigned to the Anna M. Kross Center on Rikers Island, has been suspended pending the outcome of his criminal case, a spokesperson for the Department of Correction said Friday.
“The arrest of one of our Correction Officers on a charge of gang assault is deeply troubling,” DOC Commissioner Vincent Schiraldi said in a statement. “This agency has no tolerance for behavior either on or off duty that is dangerous and jeopardizes public safety.”
