ACT Corrective Services staff recognised
ACT Corrective Services staff who have completed over 10 years continuous and meritorious service are being awarded a Shield of Recognition on National Corrections Day.
Minister for Corrections Mick Gentleman said the Shield of Recognition acknowledged the hard work of Corrective Services staff who help keep Canberra safe.
“This award acknowledges the significant contribution of the recipients and celebrates their 10 or more years of continuous service. This is a great achievement and each recipient should feel proud,” Mr Gentleman said.
“Corrective Services is an integral part of the justice system and staff do a challenging job helping those who need rehabilitation and support to integrate back into the community.

Ellen Pascoe is working hard to keep Dubbo community safe
After completing a Bachelor of Criminal Justice, Dubbo’s Ellen Pascoe couldn’t decide whether to become a police officer or parole officer.
She eventually chose the latter and is this week one of 10,000 Corrective Services NSW staff celebrated on National Corrections Day for her commitment to reducing reoffending.
The Dubbo Community Corrections officer has only been in the job for two years and in that time has put numerous offenders on the path to rehabilitation.
“I like working with people and being a parole officer is more welfare-based and about helping people, rather than being in police, which is more about locking them up,” she says.
