SCHOOL’S in Cumbria have been suffered ‘serious disruption’ as a result of rising coronavirus rates, the county s health chief has said. Cumbria has seen a huge rise in cases over the past few weeks, with schools having to send pupils home to isolate due as infections spread. In total there have been 20 outbreaks of coronavirus across schools of all ages- early yeas, primary, secondary and further eduction. This has meant 55 incidents of the virus in the county s schools. Secondary school’s have seen the highest rise in out breaks with 14 registered in the past few weeks. Colin Cox, Cumbria’s Director of Public Health, said: “The rapid spread of Covid is concerning, particularly among younger age groups but we are not yet seeing a significant impact on our hospitals which is good news and reflects success of the vaccine roll-out.
