As OU freshman s racist social media posts from high school emerge, university reiterates need for new diversity course | News

Photos circulated online late Tuesday featuring an OU freshman repeatedly using racist slurs and imagery in social media posts. In the Twitter thread, OU freshman Jaxon Moore is seen posting photos of himself edited to cover his face in black. Moore captioned one of the photos “I am (n-word),” similar to a video circulated in 2019 of OU Tri Delta members doing the same with black facemasks. In another photo, Moore drew black stick figures with nooses around their necks.

UM Greek Life continues charitable work in times of COVID

Following intensive fundraising efforts during Greek Week 2021 and a month of additional activities to support their various philanthropies and causes, University of Miami fraternities and sororities are celebrating their successes, even though pandemic restrictions forced them to find creative ways to come together to raise money. From beach cleanups to a recorded anatomy fashion show fundraiser on Lakeside Patio, Greek members shifted to give-back mode at a time when charities and nonprofit groups most need help during the pandemic. Sigma Delta Tau raised $27,000 toward preventing child abuse in America; Sigma Phi Epsilon raised more than $5,000 for Best Buddies Miami, which helps children with disabilities; and Sigma Chi raised more than $60,000 for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.

Edward Ted Russell Leuba • The Yellow Springs News

Edward Russell Leuba passed away peacefully on Feb. 23, 2021, of natural causes, with his wife of 67 years, Millicent Chace Leuba, by his side. He was 90 years old. His mark was 90, and he reached it, after a full, productive and loving life. Ted was born in Bryn Mawr, Penn., on March 28, 1930, the third of six children of Clarence James Leuba, for many years the chair of the Psychology Department at Antioch College, and Frances Eddy Briggs Leuba, a graduate of Bryn Mawr College. Ted grew up in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where he graduated from The Antioch School and Bryan High School. He had wonderful, clear memories of walking to school through Glen Helen Nature Preserve as a youngster, and had a deep and abiding love of nature. He was a precocious environmentalist and remained a dedicated conservationist his entire life.
