The Peoples Democratic Party has approved the nomination of 13 members to serve on the screening appeal panel for primary to select its candidate for the governorship election in Anambra State.
PDP National Organising Secretary, Austin Akobundu, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He noted that the nomination of the panel members was given by the National Working Committee (NWC).
According to Akobundu, the panel will be in charge of appeals that will arise from the screening exercise of the governorship primary election in Anambra State.
A two-term former governor of Imo State, Achike Udenwa, was nominated as the chairman of the panel which has Uzo Azubuike as its secretary.

Saraki, a former Kwara Governor, is a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The ex-lawmaker led the party’s presidential campaign in the last election and is currently the Chairman of the party’s Reconciliation and Strategy Committee.
He joined forces with other prominent Nigerians in the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2015 election but returned to the PDP before the 2019 election.
Meanwhile, the PDP Youth Initiative has called for the zoning of the party’s presidential ticket to the North-Central region.

Announcing the outcome of the election on Saturday in Makurdi, the Electoral Committee Chairman, Dr Cletus Tyokaa, said that all the outgone zonal officials were returned unopposed.
He said that a total of 906 delegates were expected at the congress but only 820 were accredited and voted.
He said that those who returned unopposed were: Zonal Chairman, Mr Theophilus Shan, Zonal Secretary, Mr Maurice Tsav, Zonal Treasurer, Emmanuel Ibrahim, Publicity Secretary, Mr Mohamed Suleiman and 21 others.
Benue Gov. Samuel Ortom tasked the new officials on fairness, justice and equity in the discharge of their mandate.

The congress, which held at the International Trade Fair Complex in Kaduna, was underway when crisis broke out, with some persons destroying items at the venue, while members scampered for safety.
While the confusion was said to be linked to two candidates from different factions of the PDP in Kano, there has been no official statement from the PDP on what led to the fracas.
However, some members claim confusion started over the decision on some zonal positions of the PDP in the north-west.

The north-west congress covers Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara.
During the congress earlier on Saturday, some leaders of the party in the zone had addressed the delegates, after which the voting process commenced.
