JOLIET, IL A two-story house on Joliet s far west side near Theodore Street sustained heavy damage on Saturday afternoon. Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said the blaze happened around 12:15 p.m. and that cigarettes were to blame. The family that lived at the house were alerted by their neighbors and they escaped with any injuries.
Joliet Fire Department trucks from stations 8, 9 and 10 responded to 1617 Stanton Lane to put out the fire.
Joliet s firefighters saw the outside of the house on fire when they arrived at the emergency.

CREST HILL, IL A 19-year-old Plainfield man was found dead from a gunshot wound shortly before noon Friday at the Theodore Marsh preserve in Crest Hill, officials told Joliet Patch.
Will County Forest Preserve spokeswoman Cindy Cain said that two people walking on the path west of Gaylord Road and north of Theodore Street found the young man s body about 20 yards off the trail and called 911.
Crest Hill and Forest Preserve District of Will County police responded to the 911 call at 11:47 a.m. The Will County Coroner s Office pronounced the Plainfield resident dead and an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

JOLIET, IL One of the longstanding complaints about Joliet s far west side was its lack of gas stations. Joliet had no gas stations west of Route 59. But those days are over.
The new Lenny s Food N Fuel opened for business this past weekend.
The place was busy Monday night around 7:30 p.m. The gas station convenience store includes a Dunkin Donuts and the Ta Canijo taco truck has a restaurant inside as well.

BUFFALO, N.Y. A 24-year-old Buffalo man will spend 21 years in prison for killing his girlfriend s son.
The Erie County District Attorney s Office says Nathaniel J. Baker admitted to the beating death of 2-year-old Jordan Robinson.
The incident occurred on January 7, 2020, at a residence on Theodore Street in the City of Buffalo. The toddler was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
