NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Two Deep East Texas school districts locked up their new athletic directors on Thursday night.
In San Augustine the Wolves made it official by promoting Tory Barnes into the role. Barnes will also be the head football coach and will hand off his duties as boys basketball coach and track coach. Barnes is an alum of the school and has worked for the district for the past 15 years. Barnes was the Offensive Coordinator for Marty Murr, who left for the Athletic Director job at Jarrell ISD.

San Augustine, Texas (KTRE) - San Augustine ISD will begin looking for a new head football coach and athletic director after Marty Murr accepted the same position with Jarrell ISD Wednesday night.

Murr came to San Augustine in 2016 and led the team to an 8-5 record his first season. His best run with the team came the following three seasons where the Wolves went a combined 40-5. LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - High school football season is coming to an end, which means athletic departments will soon learn the financial impact caused by fewer people at games due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UIL created rules for athletes, coaches, and spectators to follow this season. This included wearing a face mask, social distancing, and allowing for fifty percent capacity at games. Marty Murr, San Augustine’s Athletic Director, said that their band program took a hit due to low concession sales.
