Goya Foods is holding a Memorial Day event in Brookshire, Texas to honor America s veterans and fallen soldiers on Monday.
Bob Unanue, the CEO of Goya Foods, will honor several veterans at the event, including the late Marine veteran Sgt. Marty Gonzalez, who died last December from injuries he sustained 16 years earlier in Iraq.
Gonzalez, a native of Houston, was awarded three purple hearts, two bronze stars and two Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medals for his service.
He died due to a blood clot in his lungs, which stemmed from injuries in Iraq, including a bullet through his arm and a broken back, ABC13 reported.

Teen Honors Fallen Marine by Playing Patriotic Hymns Outside Home for 2 Weeks
A Texas high school student has used his musical talent to honor his neighbor, a U.S. Marine who died unexpectedly. The teen played the national anthem and patriotic hymns on his French horn outside his home in Cypress, Harris County, every night for two weeks.
Ethan Martula, 15, from the Cypress Ranch High School marching band, wanted to pay tribute to Sgt. Marty Gonzalez, a U.S. Marine survived by his wife, Tawnee, and four children.
Gonzalez, 40, passed away on Nov. 28 after collapsing in his driveway, a result of complications from injuries sustained in Iraq in 2004.
