PHILLIPSTON After receiving his master’s degree in criminal justice from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Thom Daoust went to work with the Fitchburg Police Department. After 26 years the last five of which he headed up the department’s detective bureau and narcotics unit he retired from the force in 2019 following open heart surgery.
He is currently just two classes shy of earning a master’s degree in public administration.
A resident of Phillipston for the past 10 years, Daoust, 53, has now decided to seek a seat on the town’s Selectboard. He is one of two candidates running to fill a vacancy on the board created by the resignation of Kim Pratt. His challenger in the Feb. 25 special election is current Planning Board Chair Bernie Malouin.
