What businesses former bank building might house next
The home of the former United Community Bank on 5504 Thompson Bridge Road could become a home for future commercial development.
The Hall County Planning Commission recommended conditional approval of a request to transition the front portion of the former bank building into a law office and additional office spaces for future leasing opportunities.
The additional office space would be contingent on available parking at the site, according to county documents.
The business license for the former United Community Bank building expired in December and the existing space is approximately 2,880 square feet.
Additionally, applicant Michael L. Weaver Sr. is proposing the construction of nine storage buildings ranging from 500 to 7,700 square feet to house RVs and outdoor boats across the rear of the 5.8-acre property on the east side of Thompson Bridge Road.

The Hall County Planning Commission recommended approval Tuesday of a rezoning request for a Gainesville business looking to use part of its building to host weddings, birthday parties and other events.
The owners of Lanier Therapy in Motion on Myrtle Drive near Spring Street say there are several empty rooms in the building that they can host indoor gatherings in. That is currently not allowed in their Planned Office Development zoning, so they re seeking to rezone to Planned Commercial Development.
While no citizens spoke against the request, several planning commissioners expressed concerns about the parking capacity of the building and the operating hours for the venue.
