A shortage of blood donations continues to hamper medical care in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Ryan Morkovsky, who is the father to Amy, a 3-year-old, is keeping his eye on blood supplies. Amy was diagnosed with leukemia in January and requires blood transfusions while she goes through chemotherapy. She needs O-negative type blood.Kin Man Hui /Staff photographer
Ryan and Brandi Morkovsky never expected to be worrying about their daughter’s blood type.
In January, their 2-year-old daughter, Amy, was diagnosed with early-stage acute lymphoblastic leukemia after a mysterious rash appeared on her arms and legs. Over 11 days at Methodist Children’s Hospital, Amy began chemotherapy and underwent spinal taps and bone marrow biopsies.

“I think we definitely know how to read each other, and we’re there for each other whenever we have our episodes and feeling like we can’t win,” Kami said,
They ve both lived with pain and fatigue for pretty much their entire lives.
