A shortage of blood donations continues to hamper medical care in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Ryan Morkovsky, who is the father to Amy, a 3-year-old, is keeping his eye on blood supplies. Ryan and Brandi Morkovsky never expected to be worrying about their daughter’s blood type.
In January, their 2-year-old daughter, Amy, was diagnosed with early-stage acute lymphoblastic leukemia after a mysterious rash appeared on her arms and legs. Over 11 days at Methodist Children’s Hospital, Amy began chemotherapy and underwent spinal taps and bone marrow biopsies.
