NEW DELHI: The monsoon session of parliament is starting today. The session will conclude on August 31: Here are the key points about the monsoon session: This is the the first full session of parliament since the Covid-19 hit the country last year. With the coronavirus pandemic still raging, the session will be held in both the Houses of Parliament with all the necessary protocols and arrangements being made to accommodate the MPs on a social distancing basis. Both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha will function from 11am to 6pm from Monday and there are 19 sittings scheduled for this session.

Sonia sets up parliament groups, Adhir to stay as floor leader

Ahead of parliament monsoon session beginning July 19, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has reconstituted the party s parliament groups for both houses for effective functioning of the party. Putting all speculation to rest, Sonia Gandhi has let Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury stay as leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. Sonia Gandhi, as Chairman of the Congress Parliamentary party, on July 15 issued a letter which said, I have decided to reconstitute the following groups to facilitate and ensure effective functioning of our party in both houses of Parliament. In the Lok Sabha, the group has Adhir Ranjan Choudhury, Gaurav Gogoi, Manish Tewari, K. Suresh, Manickam Tagore, Shashi Tharoor and Ravneet Bittu.
