High Point has a new economic development director.
Sandy Dunbeck has been the interim director since January. Before that, she had served for years as executive vice president of the High Point Economic Development Corporation.
She’s now officially the director. High Point EDC serves as a public-private partnership helping to retain and recruit business to the city. HAECO, Thomas Built Buses and HondaJet are some of the companies Dunbeck has worked with.

Tasha Logan Ford is poised to make history as High Point s new city manager.
Ford has been an assistant city manager in Winston-Salem since 2018. She’s scheduled to take over High Point’s top management post in July.
She’ll be the first woman and first Black city manager in High Point’s history.
The High Point City Council unanimously approved of hiring Ford during a meeting this week following a national search. Ford went to undergraduate school at UNC Greensboro and has a Master’s in Public Administration from North Carolina State University.
