Botanix | World First Human Clinical Study Shows Synthetic CBD Formula Eradicates Staphylococcus Aureus

Botanix | World First Human Clinical Study Shows Synthetic CBD Formula Eradicates Staphylococcus Aureus on February 03 2021 10:13 AM PHILADELPHIA & SYDNEY (BUSINESS WIRE) $BOT#AMR Clinical stage synthetic cannabinoid company Botanix Pharmaceuticals Limited has today published positive data from a world first human clinical study, examining the safety, tolerability and efficacy of its BTX 1801 antimicrobial product for the eradication of Staphylococcus Aureus ( Staph, also called golden staph, is a common bacterium that lives on the skin or in the nose. In most situations it is harmless; however, if it enters the body through a cut in the skin, it can cause a range of mild to severe infections, or even death. As part of this study, Botanix was working to minimise the risk of infection by removing or

Cannabidiol s Bacteria Killing Credentials Again Confirmed

January 22, 2021 University of Queensland researchers have revealed cannabidiol can kill a wide range of harmful bacteria – including those responsible for gonorrhoea, meningitis and legionnaires disease. A collaborative research project between UQ and Botanix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX:BOT) could result in the development of antibiotics for tackling bacteria resistant to conventional medicines – an increasingly pressing issue. In the case of gram-negative infections, there have essentially been no novel molecular classes discovered and approved for clinical use for more than 50 years. “This is the first time CBD has been shown to kill some types of Gram-negative bacteria,” said UQ Institute for Molecular Bioscience’s Associate Professor Mark Blaskovich. “These bacteria have an extra outer membrane, an additional line of defence that makes it harder for antibiotics to penetrate.”

Research establishes antibiotic potential for cannabis molecule

Could you imagine a world without antibiotics? That’s what keeps many doctors up at night, for it is a genuine prospect. Not because antibiotics will vanish overnight but rather because they’ve become increasingly ineffective as microbes have become more resistant. Bacteria that are ‘resistant’ can multiply in the presence of various therapeutic levels of an antibiotic. In time such strains can become so widespread that new classes of antibiotics need to be used. But what happens if nothing at your disposal works?
