As it continues to expand its business operations, in order to capitalize on its growing user base, Reddit has announced that it s opening a new local office in Australia, which is now home to the platform s fourth-largest regional audience.
As explained by Reddit: Our new Australian team launches with dedicated, locally-based Community, Engineering and Sales staff, as well as Country Manager, David Ray, who will join us in the coming weeks. The Australian business is managed by Reddit’s Head of International, Tariq Mahmoud, and is already partnering with local entities, working with Australian-based moderators and communities, and establishing local brand partnerships.

Reddit has made its official debut on Australian shores and brought on former marketer, digital strategist and Woolies X leader, David Ray, as its country manager.
The social news aggregation site said the decision to launch locally came after recognising the Australian market as its fourth largest user base globally, a base that’s growing 40 per cent year-on-year. Reddit also recently launched operations in Canada (March 2021) and a dedicated presence in the UK last September.

Home to Reddit’s fourth largest user base and growing at 40% every year, today Reddit officially says “G’Day” to Australia, a core market to its international growth strategy, as it open its doors to its local business, based in Sydney’s Barangaroo.
Reddit’s new Australian team launches with locally-based community, engineering and sales staff, as well as country manager, David Ray, who will join Reddit in the coming weeks from WooliesX, and has experience leading teams in Australia for Amazon, Twitter and Telstra.

Reddit has expanded into Australia by launching its first office in Sydney a few months after its entry into Canada in March and the UK last September. The company said in a blog post that Australia is core to its international growth strategy and its new team comprises locally-based community, engineering and sales staff.
David Ray will join as country manager in the coming weeks from WooliesX, the digital arm of Woolworths Group, and has experience leading teams in Australia for Amazon, Twitter and Telstra.
