ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz Thursday said that due to well-thought-out policies of the federal government, Pakistan was included in the countries which responded wisely and successfully to Covid-19 pandemic.
He said Pakistan kept health and livelihood of the people and economy of the country at top priority while handling the coronavirus crisis.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the concluding plenary of 23rd Sustainable Development Conference on the topic of ‘Sustainable development in the times of Covid-19’, organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) here.
The minister said that Covid-19 crisis was a very challenging time not only for Pakistan but for the whole world. He said the real challenge was to convince people to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) effectively.
Foreign Affairs Ministry condoles death of journalist Tariq Mahmood Malik

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has offered its deepest condolences over the sad demise of senior and seasoned journalist Tariq Mahmood Malik who covered the Foreign Office for over two decades with great distinction.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the departed soul, his family and friends,” said a statement issued by the Ministry on Thursday.
The statement said that Mr. Tariq Mahmood’s death is an irreparable loss to the media and journalists’ fraternity.
“He will be missed profoundly by his friends and colleagues including in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as millions of his viewers and followers,” the statement added.

Senior journalist Tariq Mahmood Malik, who covered foreign affairs, died of a lung infection in Islamabad Wednesday night.
He had been hospitalised for several days and was in critical condition. Malik was diagnosed with COVID-19 a month ago and was taken to a hospital in Islamabad due to respiratory problems.
His last coronavirus test, however, was negative, according to his son.
The senior journalist had worked for various publications as well as ARY News, Neo TV, Samaa TV and Hum News. The journalist community has also expressed grief over his demise.
