Aligarh: At least 18 professors working at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) died due to Covid-19 and post-Covid complications in the last month. None of them were fully vaccinated, with only two taking the first dose, ThePrint has learnt.
According to official data accessed by ThePrint, the latest teaching faculty member to succumb to the virus is 55-year-old Mohammad Nasiruddin, from the Department of Pharmacology. The list includes one suspected Covid case too the cause of death in the records is pneumonia.
AMU Alumni, Qatar mourn death of AMU staff due to Covid
Aligarh, May 20(UNI) Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) Alumni Association in Qatar held a virtual meeting to express their condolence on the recent deaths of AMU staff, alumni and connected families due to Covid-19.
The condolence meeting was held on May 16 in Doha virtually, said a press statement issued by the organisation here on Thursday. As the Covid-19 pandemic upends normal life, it has also changed the way people express grief over the death of their near and dear ones with many taking the virtual route to pay condolences from safe confines of their homes, the statement said.

Aligarh: Despite serious impediments caused by the COVID pandemic, the academic activities at the Aligarh Muslim University are being carried out through online mode to provide educational opportunities to its students. The Medical Education Unit, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College organized an online orientation programme for 2016 MBBS Batch interns.
Addressing the inaugural session, AMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor emphasized the importance of conduct and behaviour for an intern as these qualities make medical profession the noblest of all professions. He advised interns to make good use of internship t and congratulated them on their successful completion of the course.
The Vice-Chancellor also released the Log Book for a compulsory rotating internship as per the competency based undergraduate curriculum, introduced this year by the National Medical Commission and adopted by the JNMC.
