The Town of Hammondville is hosting is first annual car show on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at 10 a.m. Vehicles may register the day of the event, $25 per vehicle and $20 per motorcycle. There will be a 50/50 drawing, music, food, prizes and various vendor booths. All proceeds will go to refurbish Hammondvilleâs baseball field.
The Fort Payne City Pool is open Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Daily pass is $3, Individual Season Pass is $100 and Family Pass (up to 4) is $150 with $10 per each additional child. Hours may vary based on staffing, attendance, maintenance and weather.
The 110th Annual DeKalb County Fiddlersâ Convention has been canceled. It is presented annually by Landmarks of DeKalb County and the City of Fort Payne in the Fort Payne Opera House. Future plans will be announced.

The Rainsville City Council on Monday night approved improvements to the cityâs Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Rainsville Councilman Derek Rosson said the various upgrades, which will include pipes and manholes, are in support of the plant running more efficiently.
The council approved the installment of five Manhole Extensions for the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
âThereâs a lot of manholes that the seals need to be put in and raised up due to all the rain weâve been receiving the last couple of weeks,â said Rosson. âWe are going to go ahead and fix those five for sure, and I think they are roughly about $5,000 to $7,000.â

On Sunday, more than 50 DeKalb County Schools parents will have their own graduation from the district s first parent engagement course.

On Sunday, more than 50 DeKalb County Schools parents will have their own graduation from the district s first parent engagement course.
The program teaches parents strategies on how to focus-in and to be there for their children. Topics covered include things like creating confident kids and communication. We wanted to find a way to get our parents involved in the school and we wanted them to turn around and get involved in the community as well, explained Tara Kirby, DeKalb County School System s Parental Engagement Specialist.
