Tonight, we can confirm that the bus driver and conductor are being sought by police for questioning. But this incident is only the symptom of an ongoing bus route battle in Ladyville with several bus owners from the area pleading with the relevant authorities to intervene. Cabarrus County Schools preview zero-emission bus set to join district next year

Thomas Lott Cabarrus County will soon be getting three zero-emission buses to add to its school fleets in the near future. Cabarrus County Schools will receive two Daimler Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley Electric Buses starting next school year. Kannapolis City Schools will receive one as well. Daimler Global, the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in the world, had 60 buses already operating within the country and carrying students to and from school every day. âItâs an incredibly efficient vehicle,â said Steven Johnson, Southeast District sales and service manager for Thomas Bus, on Tuesday. âWeâve already got 60 buses out on the road in circulation all the way to Tok, Alaska. Weâve got one up there doing cold weather testing, but with the school district running routes on it every day. The mayor rides on it from time to time just because heâs so excited about the new technology.â

SCHOOL BOARD DISCUSSES SENIOR TRIP

The Sweet Springs R-7 School Board discussed the Senior Trip during its meeting on Thursday, April 8. According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, it was determined a committee- consisting of administration, sponsors, board members and students- will be formed to restructure the senior trip with new parameters and guidelines. The committee is scheduled to present its plans at the May board meeting. No vote was taken. In other business, every two years, the district receives bus proposals to keep current with bus replacements. Transportation Director Randy Bredehoeft reported three bids were received: Midwest Bus Sales Inc (Thomas Bus), Central States Bus Sales (Bluebird Bus) and Midwest Transit Equipment (International Bus).
