App State Wrestling Hangs Tough With 4th Ranked NC State

Thomas Flitz jumped to his feet, flexed his muscles and let out a scream toward his team’s bench.
With four close, dramatic wins, including back-to-back victories against top-10 opponents from NC State, App State hung plenty tough before the fourth-ranked Wolfpack gained late separation in a 24-12 home win against the Mountaineers.
Victories from Jonathan Millner (149 pounds), Will Formato (165), Flitz (174) and Julian Gorring (184) cut the deficit to 14-12 with two matches remaining as App State (0-1) made its 2020-21 dual debut against an NC State team that improved to 2-0 this season and survived a scare in increasing its overall winning streak to 19 matches.
North Carolina State University Sports Information 1/8/2021 RALEIGH, N.C. The No. 4 NC State Wrestling team scored a 24-12 win over visiting App State in its first home dual of the season Friday night in Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack (2-0) won four of the first five matches to jump out to a 14-3 lead, and had four bonus point wins on the night overall including a pin at 197 pounds and major decision at heavyweight to close out the dual. The dual started at 125 pounds, and NC State took the first three matches for a 10-0 lead.
No. 7 R-So. Jakob Camacho scored all four takedowns of the bout and added the ride time point for an 11-4 win at 125 pounds.
