Almanacs are full of lists of global and national historic events. But “This Day in History” feature invites you to not just peruse a list, but to take a trip back in time to see how a significant event originally was reported in the Chicago Tribune.

There are scenes of threat as heroic characters are chased by enemies or find themselves in scary and dangerous predicaments. These scenes are not unduly intense or sustained, and there are reassuring outcomes.
There are noisy, fantastical fights between heroes and villains in which blows are exchanged, and human characters are slammed into walls or face the prospect of being eaten by an evil robot dragon. There is no injury detail as the result of the fighting.
There is very mild bad language ( butt , damn , heck ). There is infrequent very mild rude humour. A boy is affected by the deaths of his parents which left him to fend for himself; an adult character gives him kind and sensitive assurance and advice about how to come to terms with his loss. Driven by circumstances, the boy takes to stealing but comes to understand it is wrong and makes amends.
