Coroner identifies 1 of 2 killed in overnight shooting in Birmingham

From the Tribune staff reports BIRMINGHAM The Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office released the identity of one of the two victims in an overnight shooting in Birmingham. Robert Thomas Dickson, Jr., 39, of Birmingham, was one of the victims. The Coroner is still working to identify the second man killed. The shooting happened around 11:10 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Both victims were pronounced dead on the scene near the 500 block of 10th Avenue West. “The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a double homicide investigation,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald said. Fitzgerald said an officer heard several gunshots and the department received multiple Shot-Spotter alerts. Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate.
