NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was called to Country Squire Lakes on Sunday afternoon after being notified that a woman was not breathing. Deputies Ian McPherson and Kyle Lee responded to the medical emergency at about 3:10 p.m.
They found a female without a pulse, so they began CPR and utilized one of the new Automated External Defibrillators (AED) that JCSO had purchased. The deputies used the AED and other life-saving techniques until Jennings County EMS arrived, who then put a recently bought mechanical chest compression device into action.
A pulse was established and the patient began to breathe during transport to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital. Once there, she was stabilized and subsequently transferred to another medical facility specializing in heart issues.

MAY 18, 2021 (LINCOLN, NEB.)Â Â â Every Nebraska State Patrol vehicle will soon be equipped with enhanced life-saving capabilities thanks to a partnership with The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Nebraska Game and Parks, and the Nebraska State Patrol.
The effort is part of a $6.4 million grant to equip law enforcement agencies with the next generation of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). NSP will receive 457 AEDs to be placed in both marked and unmarked patrol vehicles throughout the state.
âSeconds count during a cardiac arrest,â said Walter Panzirer, a Helmsley trustee. âWe know in Nebraska first responders often have great distances to cover. This funding will ensure those who get to the scene before EMS arrives give patients a bet
The busiest airport in the nation has no protocol for providing CPR instructions to 911 callers during life-and-death medical emergencies.
Before COVID-19, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was the busiest in the world. That’s one reason the airport has its own dedicated 911 center. Calls from the airport are answered by multiple 911 centers in four cities and two counties, but all have a policy of transferring those calls to the airport’s Centralized Command and Control Center, or C4.
