Developers break ground at site of future Dietz Street Lofts in Oneonta

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Construction on a new $19 million affordable housing development in Oneonta is officially underway.
Dietz Street Lofts will be a mixed-use development that will create 64 apartments for families and artists in downtown Oneonta.
Kearney Realty & Development Group joined local leaders Friday at the site of the new complex, to break ground.
“There’ll be about 800 square feet for one bedroom, about 950 square feet for a two bedroom. Oversize ceilings, oversize windows, a lot of luxury finishes the building will have a rooftop terrace for the residents, an art gallery for the resident artists,” said Sean Kearney, vice president of the development group.

This year began with real plans â plans for a new look for downtown, new housing options for all income levels, live/work spaces for local artists, a downtown college academic presence, a new transit hub and renovated parking garage, exploring ways to increase pedestrian access to the Susquehanna River and to bring the Oneonta Theater back to life, a dog park in Neahwa Park, a new city website and so much more.
This year began with real energy â a new Common Council, city strategic plan, updated comprehensive plan, and downtown revitalization implementation underway. This year ends with all of the above still intact.
