Over seven individual short documentaries, iconic musical artists from around Aotearoa translate and record their songs in te reo Māori, sharing untold stories of fear and discovery along the way. Following on from the 2019 number one album,
Waiata / Anthems, these new stories celebrate te reo Māori through the power of waiata.
Featuring Drax Project, Katchafire’s Logan Bell, Bic Runga, Che Fu, MELODOWNZ, Annie Crummer, Hollie Smith and Don McGlashan, each episode tracks the artists path, through the origin of the song to its translation and meaning, exploring how it came to be. Each episode ends with a powerful live performance.

In 2019, a group of New Zealand musicians such as Bic Runga, Tiki Taane, Tami Neilson, Stan Walker and Six60 recorded te reo versions of their songs for a compilation album called
Waiata/Anthems. Conceived by musician Hinewehi Mohi, it proved to be a critical and commercial success. TV series Waiata Anthems follows a new group of artists, including Hollie Smith/Don McGlashan, Bic Runga, Annie Crummer, Che Fu, Drax Project, Logan Bell (from Katchafire) and Melodownz as they contribute to the next album. Some of the stars of the series tells us about their song choices and what being a part of the project means to them.

It was a house for men to hide from society while alive, and last week police confirmed it was also the place to hide a murder.
Someone managed to keep that secret for at least a decade.
The Mt Eden property beneath which human remains encased in concrete were found on January 31 last year is now officially being treated as a homicide investigation.
