Brandon-Evansville voters may see a school referendum on the November ballot

But this one could be half the amount of the one that failed nearly two years ago. No plans have been set in stone, but at a special school board meeting Wednesday, April 28, Superintendent Don Peschel went through plans, which currently sit at about $13.6 million and include proposed remodels and additions for both the Brandon and the Evansville buildings.

(Shutterstock image) Students around the area will have an opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine during clinics held at school. The vaccine is not mandatory, but is being offered to students who are 16 years of age and older. Students who are 16 and 17 can receive the vaccine with parental permission. Those who are 18 years old do not need consent from a parent. The clinics are being offered through a joint effort with Horizon Public Health, Sanford Health Broadway Clinic and Alexandria Clinic, a service of Alomere Health.

Osakis, B-E teachers get COVID-19 vaccines

School districts working with Horizon Public Health to get staff vaccinated. 4:35 pm, Feb. 10, 2021 × Teachers and other staff members in the Osakis School District and Brandon-Evansville School have started to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. At school board meetings Monday, Feb. 8, in each district, an update was provided by the superintendents. Osakis Superintendent Randy Bergquist said all staff members have had an opportunity to sign up for the vaccine and as of Monday, all those who had signed up have received their first dose. “Horizon Public Health has done a great job organizing this,” Bergquist told school board members at Monday’s meeting. “It’s been a pretty good process so far.”

Brandon-Evansville School District levy increases by 3 84%

The tax levy increased by $55,901. 5:44 pm, Dec. 22, 2020 × Residents in the Brandon-Evansville School District will see an increase in their property taxes, but it isn t nearly the increase they saw last year. The district’s 2021 levy is increasing by 3.84% while the 2020 levy increased by 57.66%. The increase was approved at the annual Truth in Taxation meeting Monday, Dec. 21. The 2020 levy was $1,456,483, while the 2021 levy is set at $1,512,384 – an increase of $55,901 or 3.84%. Superintendent Don Peschel said the levy was the maximum amount the district could approve. The total levy is typically divided among the general fund, community service fund, general debt service and OPEB debt service, which is for retirement. This year, the money was divided between the general, community service and general debt service funds.
