The 57th Baeksang Arts Awards will be held on May 13 to appreciate outstanding Korean works on TV, movies and theater. One category among the awards is the Popularity Award based on votes garnered through TikTok. The voting period is 8 days starting from May 3 at 11 am KST and ending on May 10 at a minute to midnight KST. According to the website, this year’s “Tiktok Popularity Award” has 35 actors and 34 actresses in the running. The actors - male and female - with the most votes will be honored with the award. Following the announcement of nominees, the hosts for the 57th Baeksang Awards have finally been revealed!
A new report confirmed that Bae Suzy and Shin Dong Yup would be the official emcees for Baeksang Awards 2021.
The upcoming event, also known as the Paeksang Arts Awards, will surely be an exciting and entertaining reunion to some of the brightest South Korean stars since the duo have previously hosted the prestigious ceremony.
To recall, the singer-actress has been hosting the event for six years in a row, while the 50-year-old comedian has been leading the ceremony for three consecutive years, starting from the 50th to 52nd Baeksang Awards.

A petition has been filed demanding Korean actor Kim Jung-hyun, star of the dramas “Mr. Queen,” “Crash Landing on You” and “Time,” to leave the entertainment industry due to the controversies he is facing.
The petition was filed on April 12 on the website of the Office of Korean President Moon Jae-in, or Blue House.
“I am petitioning the actor Kim Jung-hyun, who has recently been caught up in controversy, to leave the entertainment industry,” the petition read, citing the controversies involving the dramas “Mr. Queen” and “Time,” and reports that he contacted another agency for his transfer.

The award is instituted by Ilgan Sports and JTBC Plus, affiliates of the JoongAng Ilbo, to honour the talents from the film, theatre and television industries.
Chang Key-young, the founder of Hankook Ilbo newspaper, introduced the award in 1965. It is presented in his pen name Baeksang . It is considered one of the prestigious awards by Korean entertainment industry.

The 57th annual Baeksang Arts Awards will be broadcast live via JTBC on 13 a 9 pm KST onwards. For the past few years, the star-studded event was telecast live through VLive and the tradition is likely to continue this year. However, there would not be live crowd this year due to Covid-19.
