SC issues notice to Shahbaz Sharif over govt s plea against abroad travel

May 25, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Tuesday issued notice to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif on a plea from the federal government, challenging the Lahore High Court (LHC) decision to allow him to travel abroad, ARY NEWS reported. The apex court while hearing a plea filed by the federal government directed the Lahore High Court (LHC) to submit the entire record of the case regarding the filing of the petition from Shahbaz Sharif and details into its immediate hearing.  In his remarks during today’s proceedings, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan asked if there was a medical emergency that led to an immediate hearing into the case.

India’s hospitals desperately need the metal cylinders to store and transport the lifesaving gas as patients across the country gasp for breath. So a local charity reacted with outrage when one supplier more than doubled the price, to nearly $US200 ($A258) each. The charity called the police, who discovered what could be one of the most brazen, dangerous scams in a country awash with coronavirus-related fraud and black-market profiteering. The police say the supplier a business called Varsha Engineering, essentially a scrapyard had been repainting fire extinguishers and selling them as oxygen canisters. The consequences could be deadly: The less-sturdy fire extinguishers might explode if filled with high-pressure oxygen.
