They were both quarterbacks, two of the most talented in the country, competing with the country’s best high school passers in Ohio at the Underclassman Report camp, sponsored by Under Armour last June. They were eager as there was no wind and perfect throwing weather for the only camp around as COVID-19 had caused most to be canceled by then. They were put through the usual drills footwork, one step, three steps, throwing an assortment of routes to wide receivers who worked one-on-one against linebackers and defensive backs.

Rutgers’ 2022 recruiting class is ranked 10th in the country and third in the Big Ten but could improve if the staff can close out its top out-of-state target.
La Salle College (Wyndmoor, Pa.) running back Sam Brown is a 6-2, 205-pounder, comparable to Wisconsin freshman Jalen Bergen, who Rutgers recruited hard but lost in the end.
A Mount Airy (Philadelphia) native, Brown is a four-star recruit with more than 20 scholarship offers. And, after examining his high school film, could have 10 more.

Rutgers has hit the ground running in its effort to address its biggest needs in 2022. The staff added pledges from four massive offensive linemen over the last week a resounding response to missing out on top in-state targets from New Jersey’s 2021 class down the stretch.
