Scattered snow showers Friday night and Saturday AM A storm moving through Utah and Nevada will continue to push in snow and rain showers. Most of the wet weather moves through Utah, with some snow working into the Snake River Plain. We could also see heavier snow showers for Oneida, Franklin and Bear Lake Counties late Friday into Saturday. Tonight, areas of freezing fog with a slight chance of snow from that fog. Scattered snow showers, mostly in the SE Idaho highlands. Low temperature around 20° for the Snake River Plain. Saturday, areas of freezing fog in the morning. Mostly cloudy throughout the day with a slight chance of snow. A high near 30°, with north wind 5 to 10 mph.

Avalanche warning for Bear River Range

Avalanche warning for Bear River Range Utah Avalanche Center POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI)-The Utah Avalanche Center in Salt Lake City has issued a backcountry avalanche watch for the Wasatch Mountains of southeast Idaho, including the Bear River Range.    A similar warning covers the mountains of Utah including the Wasatch Range, Bear River Range, and Uinta Mountains. Avalanche danger is high and expected to remain high on Saturday.  Potential heavy snow tonight and Saturday will overload a very weak snow pack and create very dangerous avalanche conditions.  The Center said both human-triggered and natural avalanches could become likely. Travelers should check conditions before heading into backcountry areas.

KSL TV + Show 1 more video Noon: Winter storm advisories issued for storm that could bring Utah mountains over 1 foot of snow KSL TV SALT LAKE CITY The National Weather Service has issued a pair of winter weather advisories throughout Utah ahead of a storm system that is expected to bring about a foot of snow to mountainous areas across the state by Sunday. The storm is also expected to make travel difficult on freeways and highways in high-elevation areas across Utah late Friday afternoon through Saturday and possibly early Sunday. The latest storm is a system moving in from California through Nevada and into Utah. Rain and snow from the storm is expected to begin late Friday afternoon into the evening across the Wasatch Front and northern Utah, according to KSL meteorologist Kristen Van Dyke.
