With no help from the government, it is the public which has come forward to raise money to help Rudraksh get the life-saving treatment for spinal muscular atrophy. TOI reported on March 9 that the child requires an injection worth about Rs 18 crore to save his life. And Rudraksh, who suffers with spinal muscular atrophy Type II, needs to take the injection within three months. Doctors say he needs either Spinraza or Zolgensma, which would cost around Rs 18 crore, making it one of the most expensive treatments, and the injection needs to be administered upon him as soon as possible because of the age limit involved in the treatment.
