The SEPTA Board has approved a five-year Strategic Plan for fiscal years 2021 through 2026.
The plan,
SEPTA Forward: A Vision for a Stronger Future, provides a framework for the Authority’s recovery from COVID-19 and sets a vision for future growth.
“The pandemic has highlighted the important role SEPTA has in providing access to essential jobs and services,” said SEPTA Board Chairman Pasquale T. Deon Sr. “SEPTA will be at the center of our region’s recovery efforts, and this plan will play a critical role in laying the foundation for that work.”
The purpose of the Strategic Plan (downloadable below) is to assess SEPTA’s impact as an agency, identify the challenges that are disrupting the transit industry, and set the vision for where the Authority needs to be headed. The plan establishes a clear mission: “SEPTA moves southeastern Pennsylvania forward by providing safe, reliable and accessible mobility choices for everyone.”

Monday, 15 February 2021 Elk Hill Solar 2, a solar farm in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, developed under a PPA between the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and Lightsource bp, is now in commercial operation.
The Elk Hill Solar 2 solar farm was developed and is owned and operated by Lightsource bp and is one of two solar farms that SEPTA and Lightsource bp announced on Earth Day in 2020. The solar farms will generate an estimated 27,377 MWh of clean and affordable solar energy, or nearly 10 percent of SEPTA’s 380,000 MWh per year electricity demand - the equivalent of providing energy to more than 2,500 US homes annually.

SEPTA riders likely won’t see the cost of their rides on city transit or Regional Rail increase until at least July of 2021.
The agency was set to increase fares at the start of the new year in January, according to a Fare Restructuring Plan approved in June. But after months of a pandemic that has battered the economy and the wallets many riders, SEPTA Board Chairman Pasquale T. “Pat” Deon Sr. wants the agency to push back the timeline six months. Deon is expected to ask the board to approve the delay at the SEPTA Board meeting scheduled for Thursday, said Andrew Busch, a SEPTA spokesperson.
