AFTER observing another International Anti-Corruption Day (Dec 9), the question we must ask ourselves is: “Where are we in Transparency International’s Corruption Index?” According to its latest survey (2019), Malaysia jumped 10 places to 51, an improvement over the previous year.
But other surveys indicate an opposite trend.
Whatever the surveys tell us, the important thing is we must never let our guard down in our fight against corruption wherever, whenever and however it happens.
It goes without saying that corruption is a scourge that impacts the rakyat in so many adverse ways.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been relentless in its efforts to identify and wipe out corruption, and its constant vigilance must be appreciated.
