Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday briefed the parliament on the developments in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) after October 19, saying that the painful concesssions , discusssed amid heavy military clashes, had to be agreed upon to avoid further losses.
According to the prime minister, Azerbaijan insisted on the seven regions’ “immediate return” instead of the initially agreed 5+2 formula. “After an analysis of the situation and consultations with the president of Artsakh and the chief of the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces, I decided that we had to reach a ceasefire through heavy concessions,” he said in his speech at the National Assembly.

Shortly after the release of the official statement declaring his tenure terminated “by force of law”, the chief of the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces issued a public adddress expressing his strong determination to dispute the legitimcy of the prime minsiter’s decree.
Colonel General Onik Gasparyan said has applied to to the Administrative Court to exercise his right to a lawful proceeding.
“My position is unchanged; both the statement released and the entire process of dismissal are anti-constitutional, the fact affirming yet another time that a pro-patriotic solution to this crisis is possible to ensure only as a result of the resignation of the prime minister of the republic and preterm parliamentary elections.

With his failure to apply to the Constitutional Court to dispute the prime ministerial decree for dismissing the army chief, Armen Sarkissian demonstrated a behavior typical of Pontius Pilate, Artsvik Minasyan of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D) said today, criticizing the president’s inaction as the “most bitter reality”.
“He could have done it just a day ago by disputing the illegal proposal for dismissing Onik Gasparyan from office.
