Picture: SUPPLIED One of Leadership Fiji’s objectives is to facilitate dialogue on matters concerning socio-economic interests. In 2017, with the support of the Australian High Commission, Leadership Fiji hosted Rosie Batty, 2015 Australian of the Year Award recipient and held a series of dialogue and fundraising on the subject of family violence. Rosie Batty, who had endured years of abuse, spoke out just hours after her son’s murder and gave voice to many thousands of victims of domestic violence who had until then remained unheard. In November, 2019, with the support of the New Zealand High Commission, Leadership Fiji hosted a one-day national dialogue on substance drugs where the outcomes were formulated into the Laucala Document and handed over to the permanent secretary for Ministry of Defence and National Security.

In 2015, he applied for the Leadership Fiji 2016 (LF2016) program when he was the general manager of Uprising Beach Resort and was fortunate to have been accepted. The Leadership Fiji 2016 program journey started within a month after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston, and as we all know it was labelled as one of the most intense tropical cyclones in the southern hemisphere on record when it ravaged.

Dave is founder, director and entrepreneur of his company FIRST FIGHTER, a video and audio production business which makes commercials, music, corporate videos and documentaries, take photos and more. Perseverance of an entrepreneur Some of my aunties and uncles and my own parents are very entrepreneurial people. They try out all sorts of ideas and things and found a lot of freedom and fulfilment (I like to think) in living this type of a life. For me it really started a few years ago while working at the University of the South Pacific, I found myself consulting for creative and commercial projects on the side.
