The son of former Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) secretary-general Satnarayan Maharaj, has received conditional leave to lodge a final appeal in his father’s legal challenge against this country’s colonial-aged sedition legislation.
Appellate Judges Gregory Smith, Peter Rajkumar and Malcolm Holdip granted leave after considering his application during a virtual hearing yesterday.

Court orders forfeiture of $99,900 seized in FIB case

The Financial Investigations Branch (FIB) of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has obtained an order from the court to forfeit $99,900 which was seized from a man who was later shot and killed.
According to an official statement from the Police Service, the order was granted on January 14th, 2021, by Chief Magistrate Maria Busby-Earle-Caddle, at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court.
