Authorities in Warren County are investigating the cause of a Monday night fire that ravaged several apartments in Phillipsburg, reports say.
The blaze which broke out shortly before 7:20 p.m. spread from a common porch between 786 S. Main to 784 S. Main, causing severe damage to the first two floors of each building,

Ledyard A majority of taxpayers will see their taxes go up, under a preliminary 2021-22 budget plan passed Wednesday night by the Town Council.
The $60,295,817 package decreases current spending by 0.25%, and decreases the mill rate by 3.56%. However, recent property revaluations mean more than half of the town s taxpayers will see their bills go up, according to Councilor William Saums, who chairs the finance committee.
The preliminary budget was approved after $1,548 was cut from the mayor s budget proposal to eliminate fax machine expenditures. Plans to alter a $43,000 increase in capital improvement appropriations was left untouched for now, until it s more clear what federal funding may be coming the town s way from recent relief packages either approved or proposed in Washington, D.C.
BILLINGS - It s out with the old and in with the new as the Billings Police Department (BPD) got the green light from council members Monday to purchase a replacement for their existing training simulator.
The BPD said they will now move forward with the purchase of VirTra Firearms Use of Force Simulator.
Police Chief Rich St. John says this new simulator is the right tool for the officers under his command. St. John says the simulator provides a variety of realistic scenarios that train officers in de-escalation techniques, judgement related to use of force and situational awareness.Â
The total cost of the unit is $199,222.38.
