Four firefighters were injured when their engine rolled multiple times off a road and down a hillside near Steamboat Springs on Saturday, the West Routt Fire Protection District said.
The engine stopped 255 feet down the hillside on the edge of Valley Drive on Routt County Road 68A.
The four firefighters were buckled up and taken to hospitals where they were treated and released, Chief Trevor Guire said.
Engine 7-1 was responding to a garage fire at 40700 Peak View Court when it broke loose on the steep and icy road and rolled off the edge. Speed was not considered a factor, officials said.
