Refuting the reports of alleged death data fudging by the Maharashtra government, health minister Rajesh Tope on Thursday said that the MVA government is working transparently and honestly.
Speaking about the report which claimed that the Maharashtra government underreported 11.5 thousand COVID-19 deaths, Tope said, Each district has two types of hospitals - private and government. Death statistics from government hospitals are updated regularly. However, private patient mortality figures are not updated quickly so there can be a discrepancy in the figures.
Tope also said that all the private hospitals have been notified by the government and the Chief Civil Surgeon will be directed for the same. If the death data is not updated in time, action will be taken, he added.
