Easton: Eastwood fire leaves house a total loss, displaces residents

Fire damages, closes 99 Restaurant on Belmont Street in Easton

EASTON  A fire broke out at an Easton restaurant early Saturday morning, hours after it had closed the previous night, causing significant damage and temporarily closing the business. Police first responded to the 99 Restaurant & Pub, at 99 Belmont St. near the Brockton line, about 4:33 a.m. for a motion alarm that had activated. Officers found mulch surrounding the building on fire as well as a container of rags burning on the side of the restaurant. The officers on scene reported that heavy winds blew the fire initially, causing it to spread. The Easton Fire Department was then dispatched and a working fire assignment was struck, summoning additional help to the scene.
