They failed to hand over 50% of beds for treatment of COVID-19 patients under government quota
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), on Sunday, slapped show cause notices on five private hospitals for failing to hand over 50% of the beds for treatment of COVID-19 patients under government quota.
After visiting Vikram Hospital on Millers Road, Fortis Hospital on Cunningham Road, Baptist Hospital on Ballari Road, Columbia Asia Hospital at Hebbal, and Aster CMI Hospital at Hebbal, Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta directed health officials to immediately issue notices. These private hospitals have 24 hours to respond to the notices.

He told the media that those who have little or no symptoms should move to step down hospitals so that those who are in dire need can get it at the earliest.

Bengaluru, April 18 : Cracking the whip, the Karnataka government on Sunday served notice to five major private hospitals here for not reserving 50 per cent of their beds for treating Covid patients amid surging cases.
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta served the notice to Columbia Asia Hospital, Fortis Hospital, Baptist Hospital, Vikram Hospital and Aster CMI Hospital as they did not comply with the government order.

Bengaluru, April 15 : In the wake of massive spike in Covid cases in Bengaluru, the civic body on Thursday decided to designate seven of the total 12 crematoria exclusively for those who succumbed to the disease.
The circular was issued by Bengaluru civic body s Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta as complaints over delays in cremations and lengthening queues beamed across news channels.
According to this circular, the crematoriums at Medi Agrahara in Yelahanka, Kudlu near Bommanahalli, Kengeri (RR Nagar-Yeshwantpur Road), Panathuru in Mahadevpura, Sumanhalli in Kengeri, Peenya in Dasarahalli, and Banashanakri in south divisions will function from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
