Social Partnership talks about vaccines and testing

Social Share Attorney General Dale Marshall has been tasked with providing the Mia Mottley administration with a legal opinion on the civil and criminal liability associated with aspects of mandatory vaccination and mandatory testing for COVID-19. And the results of that paper will set the table for a series of sectoral and national consultations on the way forward as Government tries to find a solution to the vexing problem of respecting people’s rights to choose whether they want to be vaccinated, the overall health of the nation and getting the economy back on track as more employers are making vaccination a requirement for employment.

No lockdown - yet – BPSA chief says the situation must be balanced

January 7, 2021 Head of the Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA) Edward Clarke does not believe there is a need for a national lockdown – yet, he said Wednesday. But he added that if health authorities fail in their efforts to control the spike of COVID-19 cases, then he would be open to the move which he believes must be well thought out. His comments have come in the wake of calls for a full lockdown of the island with over 200 COVID-19 cases being recorded in the space of two days. On Monday, prominent physician Dr Adrian Lorde called for a full-scale lockdown to bring the situation under control.
