The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of 4 additional deaths related to COVID-19.
As of midnight, Thursday 29th April, the HPSC has been notified of 545 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Of the cases notified today:
-294 are men / 244 are women
-77% are under 45 years of age
-The median age is 29 years old
-264 in Dublin, 58 in Kildare, 50 in Cork, 29 in Donegal, 28 in Galway and the remaining 116 cases are spread across 21 other counties.
As of 8am today, 139 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 44 are in ICU. 8 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

4 further deaths have also been reported
Of the 545 new cases 264 are in Dublin, 58 in Kildare, 50 in Cork, 29 in Donegal followed by the 28 in Galway
Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer says some areas are in a more precarious position than others, and he singled out Donegal where the virus is still circulating at dangerous levels

The public has deserved to reach the turning point that the easing of Covid-19 restrictions means according to Ireland s Chief Medical Officer who has nevertheless warned that some parts of Ireland remain in a precarious position on the road to suppression.
He and other members of the National Public Health Emergency Team also urged the public to remain cautious as the country reopens in a significant way through May and June.
Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, the Department of Health said: “The easing of restrictions is a welcome and deserved turning point in our collective efforts to get through this pandemic. It is a step closer towards the shared national goal of suppressing COVID-19 and protecting the vulnerable.

Two additional cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Clare

THE Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of two additional cases of Covid-19 in Clare and four additional deaths related to Covid-19 nationally. There has been a total of 4,903 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.
As of midnight, Thursday, April 29, the HPSC has been notified of 545 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There is now a total of 248,870 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.
Of the cases notified today:
294 are men / 244 are women
77% are under 45 years of age
The median age is 29 years old
264 in Dublin, 58 in Kildare, 50 in Cork, 29 in Donegal, 28 in Galway and the remaining 116 cases are spread across 21 other counties .
