Aspiring Saint John police officers are invited to apply to become Chief For A Day.
The city’s police department is offering the Chief For A Day contest as part of National Police Week, beginning May 9.
To enter, residents between the ages of 5 and 12 must submit their drawings of the Greatest Pet Ever by May 7.
Spokesperson Jim Hennessy says last year’s winner can vouch for the prize being well worth the effort.
“I don’t think the smile stopped from the minute she walked through the doors at Peel Plaza until the minute she left,” said Hennessy.

Residents who park their vehicle on the street in Saint John’s South/Central Peninsula will need to make alternate arrangements Wednesday night.
The city has declared a temporary overnight on-street parking ban from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday.
Any vehicles left on the street during that time will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s risk and expense.
